Multiplier sport event – Croatia
As part of the multiplier event, HLA organized practical sports activities for people with
developmental disabilities and other accompanying activities in the form of workshops and
lectures with the aim of presenting the results of the project.
Multiplier event was organized as a two-day program in the sports hall of the Mate Demarin
elementary school in Medulin. On the first day, the project participants took part in an inclusive
handball activity training, during which the results of the IO1, IO2 project were presented. The
training activities were adapted to the abilities and possibilities of the participants in
cooperation with professionals working with children with intellectual disabilities and handball
trainers. Later on participants were divided in groups from which each group organized and
demonstrated 1 training activity of simple handball exercises. During the activity participants
also discussed about the importance of sport activities and explained basic rules of handball
through group discussion.
On the second day, inclusive football activities were organized. Children and young people had
a great time playing football, scored goals, presented their football skills, but also demonstrated
other values of football and sports such as togetherness, equality and fair play. During a break
from sports activities, members of HLA presented the Capacity building training course for
professionals working with PWiD and the web-platform.
The activities were held in cooperation with partner associations: Association “Veliko Srce”
from Koprivnica, Association “Latice” from Koprivnica, Association “Pogled” from Nedelišće,
Association for Down Syndrome 21 Split, Association for Down Syndrome 21 Rijeka, School
of Education Pula, Center for Education “Ivan Štark” Osijek.
The ceremonial opening and award ceremony were enriched by the Mayor of Medulin Ivan
Kirac, President of the Sports Association of the City of Medulin Bruno Radošević, Head of
the Administrative Department for General Affairs and Social Activities of the Municipality of
Medulin Nenad Vojnić, who presented trophys, medals and special gifts to the participants.
During the 2 days of the project, football sports activities were held, as well as other sports and
entertainment activities aimed at children and young people, as well as parents, which raised
the quality level of the project itself.The participants of the event, their parents and professional
associates and other participants had a great time and showed great satisfaction with the event.
