The US Acli INSIDE event for the European Week of Sport was held in Rome on 27 September from 15:00 to 19:00. It was a day of sport and celebration for the inauguration of the renovated athletics track, which involved nondisabled and disabled athletes, participants in the INSIDE project trials, with their families, sports operators/educators and authorities from the sporting and institutional worlds in the area, for a total of around 300 participants.
The event took place in the Roman suburbs, in Torpignattara, a multicultural border district where, within the via Beccadelli comprehensive institute, the ASD US Acli III millennio operates in close collaboration with the school, guaranteeing an educational/training continuity project. For this reason, in addition to the INSIDE coordination group and the ASD US Acli III millennio managers and sports operators, the head and teachers of the via Beccadelli plexus of the via Laparelli IC also welcomed the children and the authorities present. 15.00-16.30 activities with the via Laparelli IC students, in the presence of parents
16.30: reception of nondisabled and disabled athletes and their families. Start of warm-up
17.00: reception of the authorities, presentation of the INSIDE project, and the start of speeches
17.10: an exhibition of 50 mt. speed race, beginners followed by speeches
17.30: an exhibition of 60 mt. and 80 mt. speed races, juniors, and cadets Followed by speeches
18.00: 100 mt. speed race exhibition: FISDIR and FIDAL athletes Awarding of certificates of attendance at INSIDE project trials
18.30: final refreshment
The sports activities carried out and the speeches of the young people and authorities present highlighted the social and strategic role of sport as a tool for inclusion, empowerment, and territorial development. In particular, Damiano Lembo, US Acli national president, and Gianni Alessio, INSIDE US Acli staff member and president of the ASD US Acli terzo millennio presented the motivations for the Day, illustrating the aims and activities of the INSIDE project and highlighting its consistency with the inclusive objectives and promotion of psychophysical wellbeing of the European Week of Sport.
An active part of the INSIDE project were the youngsters of the ASD US Acli III millennio who participated in the 2 experimentations envisaged by the project. For this reason, at the event, certificates of attendance in the project and the INSIDE-#BE ACTIVE t-shirt made for the European Week of Sport were handed out.
